Welcome to my Technology Showcase! Here you will find selected projects to demonstrate the outcomes of my education.
CEP 811 Adapting Innovative Technologies to Education
A stand alone instructional resource (STAIR) is an unattended learning station capitalizing on an engaging technology to deliver a new concept or skill to a diverse audience. Similar in form to an ATM or airport check-in kiosk, the STAIR provides a unique learning opportunity that is both fiscally efficient and educationally effective. The design of a stand alone instructional resource requires an understanding of learner engagement, instructional mapping and pedagogical foundations. It is important to include measurement elements to assess the learner's knowledge and remediation tools for missed concepts. My design includes a scaffolded interactive learning approach with modular review questions and remediation through redirected learning for any missed elements, ensuring successful knowledge acquisition by the learner.
I chose to design a learning station for a local Boy Scout education center. The goals were to teach Boy Scouts about the circulatory system, various types of bleeding injuries and the appropriate techniques to control bleeding in an emergency.
Give it a try!
I also created my first website using Adobe Dreamweaver in CEP 811 and continued its development in CEP 812, Applying Educational Technology to Problems of Practice. This was a major milestone in my progression of using technology in education. I had no knowledge of the design elements or construction requirements required to build a website from scratch. After working through a painfully long learning curve with many mistakes, I was able to create a functioning multi-page website including a complex matrix of endorsement requirements on the portfolio page. A web site can be used for many educational purposes including communicating with learners, parents, other faculty, displaying work, and presenting lessons or online testing.
A WebQuest is designed to allow learners to research and learn about a relevant topic. My design targets paramedic students' learning objectives for the care of a diabetic patient. Collaboration is a key element in the design since paramedics work in teams, where information gathering and sharing are vital to successful patient care outcomes.

CEP 818 Creativity in Teaching & Learning
Our work in Creativity centered on the book Sparks of Genius by Robert and Michele Root-Bernstein. The text is an amazing compilation of illuminating examples of creativity at work. Our class collaborated to create a multi-media wiki site further examining the text with contemporary examples. Our work is intended to help future classes understand the concepts and explorations described in the book then allowing for their additional contributions to our body of evidence. Small student cohorts worked on each chapter throughout the semester, building the richness and vibrance of the site. Your can explore the entire site and my group's chapter, Modeling by clicking the links below.

CEP 812 Applying Educational Technology to Problems of Practice
In CEP812 our major outcome was the creation of a plan to solve a problem of practice in our teaching environment. I chose to create a plan to operationalize our new SmartBoard interactive whiteboards by creating an educational plan for faculty training. Proper implementation and training of faculty members is critical to enabling improved effectiveness thereby enhancing teacher / learner interaction using this new technology. Click on the link below to see my plan.

CEP 822 Approaches to Educational Research
My work in Approaches to Educational Research culminated with the creation of a teaching and research proposal designing an experimental investigation of the knowledge change in practicing certified athletic trainers when using a human patient simulator as a teach tool. Identifying a proper research question, hypothesis, investigational design and methodology are critical elements for a reliable and meaningful research project. This class has directly contributed to my ability to conduct authentic research within my field of simulation research.

EAD 861 Adult Learning
In Adult Learning we explored the unique characteristics and challenges of adult learners. While there are a number of factors to consider as potential negative influences, there are likewise a number of positive influences not available to more youthful learners. Motivation, experience and other factors were examined during this class. I created a reflection essay where I reflect on the nature of transformation learning, design and delivery implications of learning, my thoughts on critical, feminist, postmodern, embodied, spiritual, narrative and non-western ways of learning and debrief on my team experiences. Click the link below to read my reflection. I also have a link to my final exam paper where I describe the set of beliefs and assumptions that currently make up my personal theory of adult learning.

CEP807 Proseminar in Educational Technology
The final class in the Masters degree program is designed to promote personal reflection and a thorough review of the learning, growth and professional development as a outcomes. The reflection essays and this entire site are the culminating effort of the class and summarize some of the learning outcomes.
